Career Placement and Internship Services will be conducting an interviewing workshop and Internet information guide on today.
Calvin Purvis, assistant director of Career Placement and Internship Services will be conducting the workshop, which will help students to prepare themselves for the interviewing process.
“The key to success is preparation,” Purvis said. “You don’t want to walk into any of this blindly.”
The purpose of the workshop is to give students the tools to allow them to get through an interview, he said.
Many people do not realize there are seven different types of interviews they could encounter while searching for a job.
Purvis will briefly address these interviewing types and give tips to make the interview successful.
Students should be prepared to answer the employer’s questions and have some of their own questions prepared to ask as well.
In the workshop Purvis will discuss strategies for handling different circumstances and help students find ways to interpret inappropriate questions in an appropriate way.
The Internet information guide will show techniques to use different Internet employment links.
These will help in the Internet search for employment opportunities.
After Purvis’ presentation, there will be a question and answer session.
Students from all departments and majors are encouraged to attend.
The interviewing workshop will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Meeting Room 3 of the Culp Center.
