Dear Editor,
I’m writing this letter to you in praise of the athletic programs here at ETSU. In all my years of being a chef and around many large programs, I feel the need to express how proud I am of all the students that participate in athletics at this school.
I see and feed all kinds of athletes in our school and they have always shown respect, dignity and maintained such a mature status. It’s overwhelming after being around other programs, the mature attitudes of our student athletes. There is no arrogance or cockiness that you see at other places. This reflects on an athletic program that puts school, dignity, pride and respect first and is unparalleled to any I’ve seen. There is no line separating students and athletes. It’s more of a joint effort to combine the two to make what we call togetherness and ETSU pride.
To see all the media attention on our basketball team and to see the way these young men handle it, makes anybody proud to have coaching that not only teaches basketball fundamentals, but also ethics and respect for school and fellow students.
It’s just a pleasure to see how young men and women athletes maintain such great attitudes in public and show courtesy to their school and fellow students.
How lucky we are to have an athletic administration as we have here at ETSU.
I’m proud to be a “Buc” fan as well as a chef to the best group of students, administration and faculty.
