The grand opening of the SORC on Sept. 23 brought a new wave of opportunities for every student organization on ETSU’s campus.
The SORC, which has been open since the beginning of the school year, was officially unveiled in a ceremony at 1 p.m. Thursday. Speakers included Dr. Wayne Andrews, vice president for administration, Dr. Steve Bader, senior associate vice president and chief student affairs officer, and Bailey Garrett, a Panhellenic Council member.
Members of the eight organizations housed within the walls of the SORC, including BucTainment, SGA and Multicultural Organizations, among others, were present for the ceremony.
The SORC will provide services to all of these organizations, including rooms for meetings, computers for printing up flyers and poster-makers for big events.
“The proximity to each other, we know, will improve collaboration among groups and promote better teamwork among student organizations.” Bader said.
Joy Fulkerson, coordinator of Greek Life and Community Programs said, “We have already seen the value of our project, and I am very excited to know there is more to come.”
A ribbon cutting to signal the beginning of a new era for student organizations followed the speeches. Tours of the SORC were given after the ceremony.
