Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter about Homecoming 2004.
I believe that this year will show that you can’t have Homecoming without a big sports game.
The last time I had a festival at school was elementry school. I believe that the “Big Band” that we as students paid for with our activity money that SGA allotted them, will be a bust. Yes, Everclear was popular three or four years ago, but not now.
I believe they could, and should, have acquired better musical entertainment based on the figure they had to spend.
Homecoming at other schools where football was tragically taken away, or the schools that have never had the opportunity to have football, celebrate Homecoming during basketball season.
Without a football game why should our alumni come back? To sit and talk? Take a tour? Watch tennis as Dave Mullins would like to see?
Oh, but they will flock to see Everclear – “NOT.”
I hope that the school learns a leason from this and that the next time we have Homecoming in the fall will be when we have football back at ETSU.
