The Museum at Mountain Home, a medical and military museum, is now open to the public from 9-11 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, and on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Located in Building 34 (the Clock Tower building) on the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center campus, the museum’s exhibits reflect the history of medicine, primarily in the Appalachian region, as well as the history of the VA Medical Center since its inception.
One item of particular interest to visitors is an “iron lung” in which patients were placed during the polio epidemic of the mid-20th century.
