Dear Editor,
A news brief that appeared in the Nov. 22 edition of the East Tennessean announced the public availability as well as the hours of the Museum at Mountain Home, located on the medical school campus. My grandfather served his country during World War II, so my interest was to visit the museum was sparked by the article.
I’m sure that taking time out of a busy day to visit a medical and military museum is not at the top of everyone’s priority list, but I wanted to encourage anyone who might read this letter to try and take time to visit the museum. With the current war in Iraq, I think it is important for us to remember our history and the people who fought bravely to provide us with the freedoms that we enjoy today.
Throughout history, there have always been people who have not supported America’s involvement in any foreign war.
My visit to the museum helped to remind me that it is important to remember our troops that have fought for our country as well as the troops who are fighting right now.
I hope anyone who visits the museum can take away the same experience as I have.
