Dear Editor,
People in this great country say that the war on terror and the war in Iraq is not necessary. It seems as if the citizens of America forgot the events that took place on Sept. 11, 2001.
America is supposed to be a place where civilians don’t have to worry about being attacked. Why would Americans not want to punish those who do evil?
When the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, Americans were all for declaring war on Japan and entering World War II because America’s freedom had been violated. Americans in 1941 wanted to punish those who had done evil.
I believe President Bush made the right decision by declaring war after America was attacked like Franklin Roosevelt did after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Bush is trying to rid the world of terror so that we will never be attacked again.
I would think that Americans would want war after the events of 9/11 because innocent people were attacked, a city not a naval base.
It is sad to hear about the soldiers being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I think Americans need to support our troops as they defend American’s freedom.
We can’t forget about the thousands killed on 9/11. It has changed our country, and we must defend it.
