Dear Editor,
As every fan of ETSU basketball knows, our team has imploded.
Brad Nuckles got hurt in our first game and wound up a medical red shirt.
Chris Mitchell showed much promise but chose not to return to school after Christmas because of personal reasons.
In addition we lost Greg Surmacz and Michael Tolliver for long periods.
In short it has been a nightmare season. When I read in Saturday’s local paper that some were vocal in putting down Tim Smith I was appalled.
This fine, decent “little man” has brought notoriety to our campus and community.
Fans and analysts all over the country have been dazzled by his incredible talents. His moves defy the laws of physics.
To all those who felt the need to disparage Tim on Wednesday you should be ashamed of yourselves.
There is not a person among you who is half the man Tim Smith is.
You remind me of “those timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat” (Teddy Roosevelt).
If we are able to right the ship going into the Conference Championship it will be because of Tim.
God bless you sir!
