You may have seen Dana and the Robots rocking out for the Breast Cancer Research fundraiser at the Amphitheatre here on the ETSU campus in the fall.
Dana Seals is a student at ETSU and she is the writer, singer and guitar player of Dana and the Robots.
Seals’ goal as a musician, especially a female musician, is to “make positive music that everyone can listen to, give girls someone to look up to other than Britney Spears, and show girls that there are ways to be creative other than using your body.”
“I just want to change the world” Dana said.
Seals’ sound can best be described as a fusion of retro rock, ’60s sounds, and indie rock. She does this by using vintage organs and amps with reverb sound effects.
She has been seriously playing music since high school where she was a member of the Elizabethton High School Guitar Club.
Her musical influences include The Zombies, The Beach Boys, Weezer, The Kinks and Firry Furnaces and it really shows up in her music.
You may be wondering, “Who are the robots?” The other members of the band “the robots” consist of Aaron Clark on drums, Jared Colinger on bass and Jeremiah Nave on organ and moog.
Dana and the Robots play locally quite often with touring and local bands.
Dana and the Robots will be playing at the Baptist Collegiate Ministries bulding on March 21.
