The Atlantic Sun Men’s Basketball Championships are here.
East Tennessee State University kicks off its General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Conference Men’s Basketball Championships tonight in Memorial Center.
This will be the first year that ETSU has participated in and won the bid to host the Atlantic Sun tournaments on campus.
ETSU’s Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Michael White expects a great turn out at this weekend’s games. “It has been a great advantage in this league to get this tournament hosted here, something that has not been possible in the past,” White said.
ETSU’s first game starts tonight at 7 p.m., the winner of tonight’s game will play at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 3, and the winner of that game goes on to play in the championship game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Thursday and Friday’s games will be televised on CSS, and Saturday’s game will be televised on ESPN2.
There are several ways for students to receive complimentary tickets to this event. The SGA has purchased a limited allotment of tickets for students to pick up first-come first-serve that will be handed out in the bottom level of the D.P. Culp Center at Ticket Booth C outside the post office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
If ETSU wins their Thursday game, tickets for the Friday game will be available to students that morning at the same ticket counter, also during the 10 a.m.-3 p.m. time frame.
A second way to receive a free student ticket to this weekend’s events is to visit one of the four listed Johnson City Subway locations, where students can make a purchase of at least a six-inch sub, and bring the receipt, signed by a Subway employee, to the ETSU ticket office or outside ticket booths at Memorial Center the day of the game to receive their ticket.
Participating locations include: 811 W. Walnut St., 1202 W. Market St., 512 W. Oakland St. and 2122 Roan St.
Members of Buc Wild can receive their free ticket by coming to the Pirate Club offices inside Memorial Center and simply picking up a ticket.
If ETSU goes on to win the Friday game and then play in the championship on Saturday, all leftover student tickets will be made available at the Memorial Center ticket booths on the day of game.
