Sophomore pitcher Amanda Haverman has been named the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week, following an outstanding performance in Sunday’s doubleheader sweep over conference-leader Stetson. Haverman, who shares this week’s honor with North Florida’s Ashley Parenteau, is the first ETSU softball player to earn A-Sun recognition this season.
After four and a half scoreless innings in ETSU’s first contest with Stetson, Haverman slammed a two-out grand slam over the left-field fence, lifting the Lady Bucs to the 4-1 victory. The sophomore’s hot bat continued in game two, as she launched her second homerun of the day and fifth of the season.
Her second blast was a three-run job, which helped her squad to a 7-4 win.
For the series, Haverman went 3-for-5, with seven RBI, and two runs scored. Haverman, who is amid a five-game hitting streak, was also one of just three Lady Bucs to manage a hit against the formidable Virginia Tech pitching staff in last Tuesday’s Stateline Classic. She hit .500 for the week, going 4-for-8 over three games.
