Francis Scott Key has most assuredly turned-over in his grave, as immigrants, both legal and illegal have dared to tread upon this country’s most sacred and forbidden territory, and which must be viewed by all American citizens as a blatant attempt to force an agenda of unscrupulous deception upon their culture which cannot be accepted under any circumstances and must be refuted immediately.
To insist that the national anthem of the United States, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” include a version in Spanish for immigrants to sing in their native language is not only insulting, but borders on disloyalty.
What is even more insulting and vicious is the nerve of certain individuals who wish to change the words of “The Star-Spangled Banner” to suit their own needs.
It is obligatory that the national anthems of all nations be sung in their native language and to do otherwise is preposterous.
In France, French people sing “Allons enfants de la Patrie,” and in Denmark, Danes sing their Royal Anthem, “Kong Kristian stod ved hojen mast I rog og damp.”
And yes, Mexico has a nation anthem, “Mexicanos al grito de guerra.” So, it would behoove certain immigrants, legal and illegal not only to learn the official language of this country, but to learn “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and sing it in English, instead of marching, protesting, waving foreign flags and demonstrating for rights that you are not entitled to, unless of course those rights have been bestowed upon you under the laws of this nation and have been acquired legally.
There is no malice or prejudice in these words, and I certainly do not believe that immigrants should be required to abandon their cultures in their homeland, but while there may a time and place for almost everything, a Spanish version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” is not one of them.
If this country continues down that slippery slope of catering to the whims and desires of every dissident immigrant who crosses our borders legally or illegally with intentions to change our culture and language, and the apathetical masses continue their plunge into nonexistence, then it may not be long before “the twilight’s last gleaming” has another connotation.
