Dear Editor,
After hearing all the rumors flying about Homecoming, I feel that people should hear what it was like for the Greek side. We were not boycotting because of a few fraternities getting kicked out; we did it because we do not feel the university respects our organizations the way they do to the others.
Being Greek means holding yourself to a higher standard and becoming involved in the community outside your Greek letters. The university has put Greeks under a magnifying glass and in a bad light. Greeks do more philanthropy than SGA, we do community service instead of writing checks. You will never see a Greek posting obscene things on Facebook or being arrested and taken to jail, but when one small brawl happens off campus the whole town knows about it.
Guaranteed that if an SGA member did something like this, it would be swept under the rug. I feel that the university plays favorites and if it were not for Greeks, the participation in Homecoming would lack even more.
