Demolition starts this week for McCord Hall and Cooper Hall on the East end of campus so the sidewalk and parallel parking spots in front these halls will be blocked-off by a chain-link fence. The new apartment complex, although still in design, will contain 400 beds, both 1 and 2 room accommodations, with a central common room. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2008 and end in fall of 2009.
The Culp Center’s elevator is now open. Most of the renovations within the Culp Center are due to be complete by the end of spring 2008.
Renovations in the Pharmacy School are to be done by the summer of 2008.
A contract has been signed for construction of a softball field at the West end of campus. This is the first softball field ever on the campus. Construction will begin at the end of the month.
Stone, Dossett, West, Powell and Panhellenic buildings are all undergoing an analysis in order to make a decision as to whether they will remain as housing or be turned into academic rooms, such as offices and classrooms.
An expert has been asked to complete an inventory of campus parking. The study should be done by November. Consideration is being made for restructuring lots to make more space or to build a parking garage. If a garage is built, there may be parking fees for its use.
