Award-winning Russian pianist Dmitri Vorobiev will perform Friday Feb. 22 in the Powell Piano Series sponsored by East Tennessee State University’s Department of Music.
His 7:30 p.m. program in Mathes Hall includes Beethoven’s “7 Bagatelles, Op. 33” and “Sonata in E Major, Op. 109”; Rachmaninov’s “3 Etudes-tableaux from Op. 39”; and Schumann’s “Arabesque, Op. 18” and “Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13.”
A native of Moscow, Vorobiev has won many international competitions, including the Casagrande, Busoni, World Competition, Ibla Grand Prize A.M.A. Calabria, UNISA International in Pretoria, and New Orleans International.
He has appeared in solo recitals and with orchestras in Israel, Russia, South Africa, Ireland and throughout the United States.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and students.
