Dear Editor,
I have read with great interest the arguments in the recent op-ed pages of the newspaper.
The arguments that have been made recently are contradictory at best and straight out ignorant at the worst.
Most liberals complain about the recent government inability to monitor and regulate the inspection and distribution of meat. They complain about the government’s (FEMA) inability and inefficient manner in which they handle natural catastrophes.
Liberals complain about the treatment of soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center. They complain about our government’s inefficient care of the poor, underprivileged, handicapped and unwilling.
Liberals also complain about the military as if they were the unintelligent lap dogs of a warmonger.
To make a long story short, liberals think that the federal government is absolutely inept and incompetent.
I have to say, I absolutely agree with them. Our government was never formed or intended to provide much more than protection of our constitutional rights and protection from enemies both foreign and domestic. What seems funny to me is that liberals now seem to think that government can unilaterally and absolutely take care of our health care system through a “Universal Healthcare System.”
So lets get this straight, the government is inept and incompetent at everything they do, but by God, they can undoubtedly take care of all of our health care needs without fail.
If anyone truly believes that government is the answer to today’s health care woes, you either need a lesson in common sense, a lesson in economics or both. If anyone can name me one thing, one thing, that the government can do more effective and/or more efficient than the private sector, then I may capitulate.
Otherwise, lets work together to try to find a real world, common sense, non-socialistic, bipartisan way to solve this problem.
