Junior sprinter Judy Johnson (Knoxville) prepped for her first-ever Atlantic Sun Indoor Track and Field Championship meet by setting a school record in the 200-meter dash at the Virginia Tech Challenge. On Wednesday, the conference office announced that she had won her first female Athlete of the Week award, the final award of the season.
Johnson, a junior psychology major from Knoxville, Tenn., broke the school mark in the 200 over the weekend at the Virginia Tech Challenge. Her time of 24.42 broke Jenny Knox’s (Connelly Springs, N.C.) time of 24.50 establishing a program best.
Johnson finished sixth overall in the meet.
She enters the Indoor Track and Field Championship at her home venue, ETSU’s Memorial Center, with the second fastest time in the conference in the 200.
She trails Belmont’s Lynette Rives by a mere five-one hundredths of a second.
