The ETSU women’s tennis team fell to North Florida in a hard-fought match, 5-2 on Saturday morning at the UNF Tennis Complex. The Lady Bucs fall to 10-8 overall and 6-2 in conference play while the Ospreys improve to 9-10, 6-2.
Jacksonville claimed the doubles point as Vanessa Sanchez and Ina Durcakova defeated Elena Volobueva (Barcelona, Spain) and Tara Byrne (Johnson City, Tenn.), 8-6.
Vita Moskaliova (Minsk, Belarus) and Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania) fell to Maria Melihova and Victoria Krook, 8-6.
In the top position Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Olya Batsula (Minsk, Belarus) defeated Carolina Melo and Natalia Sanchez, 8-5.
In singles the top position Stupak fell to Natalia Sanchez, 6-3, 7-5.
Andra Voinea fell to Ina Durcakova, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 4 slot. In the fifth position Elena Volobueva fell to Victoria Krook, 6-3, 6-2 while Whitney Trotter (Guadalajara, Mexico) fell to Carolina Melo in the sixth slot, 7-5, 6-2.
The Lady Bucs earned their two points as Olya Batsula defeated Vanessa Sanchez in the No. 2 position, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 and Tara Byrne dropped Maria Melihova, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in the third slot.
The Lady Bucs will return home to face Campbell on April 4. The match is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
