Wednesday night, in honor of Farmworker Awareness Week, the film “Morristown: In the Air and Sun” was shown to a crowd of 30 people. Afterwards Jane Crowe, J. Davis and Silvia Fregoso gave a presentation on the Head Start Program, which provides the children of migrant and seasonal workers with early childhood and development programs, literacy programs, nutrition and health and disability services.
“We don’t want children in the fields,” said J. Davis, Head Start director for the state of Tennessee, “which is where they end up if there’s no safe place for them.”
The presentation following the film showcased many pictures and stories of migrant farmworkers and their families.
