Dear Editor,
It seems that today more and more young people are becoming more and more immoral, and it seems to be increasing with the generations. And there can be many reasons for this.
One being that in the not-so-far-gone past, people lived in very close families, especially women.
It was always very uncommon for a woman to be “unsupervised” by a father, husband or brother. Those who did were considered to be witches and essentially shunned.
This was perhaps because of the idea that women cannot be trusted with themselves without a man to watch over them, and because women were constantly watched over, they were less likely to fall to the temptations of others.
Maybe this has some truth to it, but it cannot be blamed completely on the females, and of course, I am not saying that female promiscuity was non-existent.
Young men as well have become more promiscuous. A reason for that would be the increasing absence of a role model as generations come and go. Anymore, both parents are absent because both parents work.
Back in that not-so-far-gone past, young boys were left with their mothers at home to be taught to be young gentlemen. Now that the woman’s role in the home has decreased due to ever-increasing availability of once homemade products, women have ventured out into the work force leaving the children in the hands of nannies and day care workers whose main priority is not to teach children to be moral or honorable, but to keep them safe and alive.
As the world becomes more independently operated and less family-oriented, I fear that this problem will only worsen. Be with your families and enjoy their love. Help solve the hidden reason behind this growing problem.
