Bucky’s Food Pantry will be hosting the 4th annual coat drive and giveaway this upcoming season. They accepted new or clean, gently used coats from Oct. 10 through Oct. 27. This helps students, staff and faculty keep warm this winter. This is a great way to help the less fortunate students, faculty and staff at ETSU get help during the winter time.
“Last year we collected over 400 coats and gave away 285 coats during the week of Nov. 2. We continued to give out coats during the winter months at Bucky’s Food Pantry and probably gave away another 50 to 75 coats,” said Helen Jones, Department of Social Work executive aide.
If you would like to request a coat, you can pick up a request form from Lyle House Room 100, Sherrod Library Room 307, the ETSU Counseling Center (Culp Center Room 345), Lamb Hall Room 55 or download a form from http://www.etsu.edu/foodpantry/Bucky%20FP-CoatDrivecoatrequest.pdf
The giveaway will take place Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, Nov. 2-3 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and November 4th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Culp Center, Room 4C.
“We also receive sweaters, hats, gloves and other winter clothing material,” Jones said.
“We ask that such items are also clean and in good repair.”
Bucky’s Food Pantry is an opportunity to help end hunger at ETSU’s campus for all students, faculty and staff. They try to help in the most convenient, discreet and easily accessible ways possible.
This is in accordance with ETSU’s history of philanthropic culture and service on the campus and is a good way for students and staff to help their local community with donations.
Requests for help from Bucky’s Food Pantry have doubled since last year, and they are in need of donations to help as many students, staff and faculty as possible. Requests for food can be made at http://www.etsu.edu/foodpantry/forms/request.aspx.
