Do you want to go skiing but don’t have a ride? Look no further! ETSU Outdoor Adventure is providing students with an opportunity to travel to Beech Mountain. On Feb. 10, the center is offering shuttle services for ETSU students eager to hit the slopes.

“Our goal was to provide a cheaper transportation option,” said Eric Payne, assistant director of Outdoor Adventure. “The trip is planned around Beech Mountain’s college night, where students can take advantage of discounted tickets.”

The shuttle will leave on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. and return around 11 p.m. Students can rent their equipment at Beech Mountain or bring their own.

Payne emphasized that outdoor activities have been shown to benefit students.

“It makes you more relaxed, relieves anxiety and gives you a clear head as you come back to academics,” he said.

Students have access to a tremendous number of opportunities through Campus Recreation and Outdoor Adventure.

“In our modern, technological society, being able to step away and move into a natural space benefits mental and physical well-being,” Payne said.

The shuttle to Beech Mountain offers students a way to travel and ski without having to pay extra transportation costs. For those who are interested in additional Campus Recreation opportunities, Payne promised many fun activities throughout the semester, including a caving trip, “Galentine’s Day” climbing, overnight trips and challenge course events. Whatever your interest, there’s an outdoor adventure for you.

The Campus Rec registration portal guides students through the process of registering for various unique activities. Payne encourages students to visit the CPA.

“It’s a great way to discover something new,” he said.
