The women’s golf team made their way to Wallace, North Carolina, for the UNCW River Landing Tournament, which lasted all day on Monday and Tuesday.

The Blue and Gold found themselves in the third slot of the twelve with a 22-over-par (304-294-288), making their best finish on the year so far.

The team completed the first day of the tournament with 22-over-par, which put them at fifth place in the day.

Junior Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) kept her place in the spotlight by leading the team both days in terms of points.

On Monday, Melecka carded six birdies in the two rounds, making it to third place individually after shooting a total of 144 through 36 holes. 

Sophomore Warda Amira Rawof (Kuala Lumpyr, Malaysia) and junior Kornbongkoat Sararat (Nongkhai, Thailand) share the slot for seventh place on Monday with three-over-par. Same as Melecka, they carded six birdies each.

Melecka began the final round on Tuesday one shot off the lead, with her third round of even-par 72, and tying with a player at even-par 216 for the tournament.

On Tuesday she hit two birdies, 14 pars and two bogies, earning her second co-medalist honor on season and the third in her career.

As a whole, Melecka led the field in terms of scoring with par-4. She registered 38 pars and eight birdies in 54 holes.

Sararat and Rawof followed Melecka into the top 10 grouping. Sararat placed third at 1-over-par 217 (73-74-70), and Rawof tied for seventh at 4-over-par 220 (76-71-73).

The Bucs head out on March 14 to begin the 3M Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Georgia. The tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
