Two faculty members at ETSU, Chassidy Cooper and Nicholas Hagemeier, have been chosen to be apart of the EAB Rising Higher Education Leaders Fellowship.

EAB oversees change through higher education with leaders in education, faculty and staff to make progress with students and those enrolling into higher education.

“The fellowship is a way to get aspiring leaders at academic institutions, and Dr. Cooper and I have the pleasure of representing ETSU in this endeavor,” said Hagemeier.

Cooper and Hagemeier both have many hopes and aspirations going into the fellowship. Both want to see change and help people through the Fellowship.

“One of my goals is to deepen my understanding of higher education issues and to come back and learn as much as I can about diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Cooper. “So basically to advance ETSU’s strategic mission and goals when I get back.”

Cooper plans to better ETSU with her EAB capstone project through the Committee for 125 Chapter II Task Force, which focuses on the discussion of diversity, equity and inclusion and comes up with strategies on how to better ETSU in the future.

Hagemeier’s goal is to be able to see students thrive and enjoy their careers and education. An area of focus in EAB is the wellbeing of students and faculty members, which will help with Hagemeier’s goal.

“I’m really lucky to do something here at ETSU, that’s my goal and this is where I’ve been planted and I’m really fortunate to love this university, and I want to do something to serve it and leave it better than I found it whether that’s for faculty, staff or students,” said Hagemeier.
