This year’s Weeks of Welcome, formerly known as Welcome Week, is new and improved for the 2021-2022 school year.
The largest event during the Aug. 22-Sept. 4 Weeks of Welcome is the SGA Weeks of Welcome outdoor concert featuring Kip Moore.
“We are excited about [Kip Moore] and hosting this concert in the CPA Backyard,” says Carter Warden, Director of Student Activities and Organizations. “We are encouraging people to bring blankets and camping chairs. Students can bring two friends if they show their Student ID and ETSU faculty can bring their family members as long as they show their ID as well.”
There will be a variety of events throughout campus, especially in the new University Commons area.
Returning students know how to capitalize on their favorite events on campus during these weeks. From Bucky’s Back to School Bash to Culparoo, these events provide entertainment for the ETSU community while also promoting free gear and prizes from campus organizations and local Johnson City businesses.
The four main tabling events on campus will be Bucky’s Bash on Aug. 24, Cultural Remix on Aug. 26, Scoop on Faith and Service on Aug. 30 and Campus Roundup on Aug. 31.
Another special event going on Aug. 23-24 is the different wayfinding tables strategically placed around campus.
“So, at about seven or eight locations across campus, there will be people from admissions and students there to help students to find their way around campus,” Warden explained. “We have potentially two classes of students who have never been on campus.”
Other Weeks of Welcome events include a campout hosted by Tradition Keepers, Recfest, the famous Block Party and more to get all students involved and integrated on campus this year.
