ETSU Athletics will hold the long-awaited induction ceremony for the 2020 Hall of Fame Class on Friday, Oct. 1. While the inductees were announced in December 2020, the official ceremony had been postponed for nearly a year because of COVID-19.

“The 2020 Hall of Fame Class consists of outstanding individuals who have written ETSU Athletic history with their accomplishments. It is an honor to celebrate and welcome them into this most prestigious group of Buccaneers,” said ETSU Intercollegiate Athletics Director Scott Carter. 

The induction ceremony will take place at the ETSU Martin Center of Arts on Friday, Oct. 1. The reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by the official ceremony at 7 p.m. Entrance is $25 per person and is open to the general public.  

According to etsubucs.com, the 2020 Hall of Fame Class includes seven former student athletes and one former coach. Starting off the list is women’s basketball player Siarre Evans (2006-10), who was twice named ASUN (Atlantic Sun Conference) Player of the Year.

Tara Byrne also sports multiple ASUN records (2006-10) in women’s tennis. In men’s baseball, Paul Hoilman (2008-11) was the first player at ETSU to finish with 300 career hits.

John Duus (1980-82) represented Norway in the 1984 Olympics with his rifling. Finishing off the list of students are three golf players: Laura Jansone (2006-10), the first golfer in ETSU program history to win a conference championship; Keith Nolan (1993-97), 1995 SoCon Player of the Year; and Garrett Willis (1993-96), two-time SoCon Player of the Year.

Finally, former men’s tennis coach (1987-2002) and athletics director (2002-2013) Dave Mullins is included in the 2020 Hall of Fame class.
