Living somewhere new can be hard.
Whether it be to a new house, city or a completely different state, that big change can be petrifying, especially when the move is to college. For some, they can’t wait to go somewhere new and experience all that the community and its people have to offer. For others, they would rather stay in their comfortable space with familiar routines and rituals.

ETSU is a version of Johnson City that is jam packed with everything a new student on campus needs. We have a diverse student and faculty population, lots of activities, fun places to eat and hang out, student groups to join, mountains to hike, people to meet and the list goes on!
Go and explore places like Asheville, Kingsport and Bristol. Go venture the mountains. Join the hiking club. Rush a sorority or fraternity. Join a student group. Do whatever your gut tells you to do here, and I can guarantee it will be for the better.
All of these things may seem like too much or too many, but they really allow you to experience the essence of Johnson City and ETSU, the surrounding areas and communities. They give you a chance to meet influential people. They give you unlimited opportunities to meet those with similar interests, hobbies, opinions, and so much more.
They can also help you find support for the things that you want to talk about and believe in, or they might inspire you to try a new hobby or reach out to different people. You might discover that this helps you find a community in a place that has endless opportunities.
