From Aug. 9 to Sept. 24, The Reece Museum on campus is presenting “FLEX”, a showcase of 14 talented faculty from the Department of Art & Design.

In this showing, there is representation of all media forms offered to be studied at ETSU. Different art forms included are printmaking, jewelry, metals and painting and photography, so there is a piece of art displayed for almost any interest someone may have.

Spenser Brenner, Exhibition Coordinator at the Reece Museum, spoke on how this exhibit showcases what the talented faculty and programs in the art and design department have to offer to students and the community.

“What the art department is teaching is essentially represented in the gallery, and all the work is relatively recent, so it is a really great opportunity for not only the campus community, but also regionally, to see how much this department has to offer,” said Brenner.

Sage Perrott, Assistant Professor of Art and Design, spoke on the significance of this exhibit and having all faculty to show together at once.

“Our faculty shows all of the time, as far as individual shows elsewhere around the country goes, but we get to enjoy this unusual treat for all of the faculty to put on a show together at the Reece Museum,” said Perrott.

The last time ETSU hosted an event showcasing faculty artwork was in 2013, so campus was well overdue to have faculty work displayed.

This exhibit showcases works from faculty members David Dixon, Michael Anthony Fowler, Mira Gerard, Travis Graves, Mindy Herrin-Lewis, Vanessa Mayoraz, Patricia Mink, Sage Perrott, Kelly Porter, Christian Rieben, Lindsay Rogers, Andrew Scott Ross, Tema Stauffer and Johnathon Strube.

Be sure to stop by the Reece Museum from now until Sept. 24, with a reception being held on Sept. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., to experience this wonderful exhibit in person.
