Halloween has passed and the leaves have fallen, which can only mean one thing: Bucs Basketball is back.
After an off-season that saw the hiring of new men’s Head Coach Desmond Oliver, the Bucs are back in action with some familiar faces in Ledarrius Brewer (Meridian, Miss.) and David Sloan (Louisville, Ky.) leading the team in preseason honors.
Brewer and Sloan were named to the All-Southern Conference Team during the preseason awards announcement in October. Brewer, coming off of an All-SoCon season where he averaged 16.2 points per game, is joined by Sloan, who averaged 11.1 points per game last season as well as 4.3 assists after earning a starting role on the team last season.
The Bucs will take to the court for an exhibition home game against Catawba on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. to warm up before hitting the road for their season opener matchup on Nov. 12 against an Appalachian State Mountaineers team that went (17-12) last season.
The Bucs will travel to Knoxville to face the former team of Coach Oliver, the No. 18 ranked Tennessee Volunteers, coming off an (18-9) record on Nov. 14 (SEC Network) before returning to Freedom Hall to open their home court defense against a USC Upstate squad on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.
The Bucs will travel to compete in the Naples Invitational in Naples, Fla. Nov. 22-24 and return home for a matchup against Lees-McRae on Nov. 27 before hitting the road again at UAB on Dec. 1.
A three-game stretch at home followed by two more out of conference games, including a visit to the Georgia Bulldogs, will set the Bucs up for SoCon play.
The Bucs begin their interconference play on the road at Chattanooga, which will be aired on ESPNU on Dec. 30 at 7 p.m.
The Bucs have 31 games scheduled leading up to the SoCon tournament, which begins on March 4, 2022, in Asheville, N.C.
