On Jan. 18, Buctainment hosted a karaoke night to kick off the spring semester.

Students worry about working with new professors, new courses and the possibility of having a stressful workload, but Buctainment provided a stress-free activity for students to be able to all come together and have fun.

“We are hosting this event because the students have always really enjoyed it in the past, and it seems to always go really well. It’s a great way for students to come out, sing with their friends and express themselves,” said Marli Martin, a Buctainment staff member.

Martin was thrilled by the turnout for the event.

“Being it is the first day, I didn’t know how many students would come out, but the turnout definitely exceeded my expectations.”

ETSU student Afton Burton, who participated in a song, noted that karaoke night brings the student body together and is a great way to get connected on campus.

“I’m happy I got up and participated,” said Burton. “I chose a song by Taylor Swift because I used to sing in high school, and I knew my friends would like it.”

Another student, Levi Jones, attended and spoke highly of the event.

“This is my first time attending a karaoke night,” Jones said. “I really enjoyed getting to sing and getting a chance to express myself and let loose after a long day of classes.”

There will be three more karaoke night events throughout this semester. For more information, follow Buctainment on Instagram at @etsubuctainment, or email them at etsufun@etsu.edu.
