SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The ETSU Bucs’ three-game road trip ended on Saturday, Feb. 5, with a 62-60 loss at Wofford.

The Bucs have now dropped five games in a row, bringing their overall record to (12-13) and (2-9) on the road for the season.

The Bucs — one spot above last place in the SoCon — hoped to stop their skid when they took the court against conference rival, the Wofford Terriers.

ETSU entered the day with a (3-8) interconference record.

Wofford — (5-6) in SoCon play — hosted the Bucs and were looking for a sweep of the Bucs this season after their first meeting ended with a 68-57 victory back in January.

A scrappy game between the two teams saw an even match-up dictate the day. Neither team could pull away from the other, with the Bucs leading a majority of the first half. They would maintain a slim four-point lead when they entered the half 30-26.

In an unbelievable way, the second half was even more closely contested by both teams.

In the back and forth scoring quarter, the Bucs would lose the lead shortly before the 12-minute mark and be forced to play from behind, although never trailing more than six points.

With two minutes remaining, the Bucs tied the game when Jordan King (Albany, N.Y.), found the basket from deep and evened the score 60-60. King would finish with a team-best 18-points.

The game was within reach for both teams and then a shooting foul found Wofford’s Max Klesmit at the line. He would hit both and give Wofford the 62-60 lead that the Bucs could not match after several attempts were thwarted by the Wofford defense.

As the Bucs shooting struggles continued with the team going 42 percent from the floor just slightly below the team average of 44 percent, the team will hope to find their rhythm when Furman visits Freedom Hall on Feb. 7. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
