As Andrea Sarhatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) begins her fourth softball season at ETSU, she shows high gratitude regarding her successful career.

Sarhatt found her love for softball at 6 years old. Playing competitively through school and club teams since middle school, her skill level and love for the game grew exponentially. She received Player of the Year along with an all-state honors recognition during her senior season at Farragut High School. Her high exposure to the sport allowed for the opportunity to play at the collegiate level at ETSU.

At ETSU, she has been named to both the SoCon All-Academic Team and the SoCon Honor Roll in multiple seasons, along with being awarded the SoCon Commissioner’s Medal in 2021. In December 2021, Sarhatt graduated with her bachelor’s in business administration in marketing with a marketing management concentration and is now working towards her master’s degree in digital marketing.

Sarhatt’s parents have remained her biggest role models and support system while pursuing the sport. Her father, Mike Sarhatt, coached her through her younger years up through high school and has stood as one of her highest motivators on staying competitive within the game.

Her mother, Cherie Sarhatt, has given guidance and provided comfort throughout her career when faced with challenges and deciding her future.

Another aspect of the game she has always loved is the people she has met and played the game with. Her fellow ETSU teammates have added to her experience through, “good friendship and foundation [by] being able to get to know each other, learn together and grow,” said Sarhatt.

Sarhatt is also very appreciative of all the resources that are offered to ETSU’s student athletes. Whether it be athletic guidance, academic needs or counseling, Sarhatt has always had confidence in finding solutions through the guidance of the faculty and staff.

As she looks forward to this coming season, Sarhatt says she has, “loved [her] past four years here,” and feels fortunate to have such a support system behind her.
