On April 21, ETSU’s newest club collaboration is coming together to create PartyBucs and present “90’s Prom”.
This is a free, formal-style event, and all students are welcome. The event will be held in the Culp Ballroom B from 8 to 10 p.m. PartyBucs is providing a DJ, food, dancing, prizes, superlatives and more.
Katie Ward, the event coordinator, spoke on the creation and brainstorming that went on behind-the-scenes of this event.
“Last semester, we started throwing around the idea at the Counseling Center because we really wanted to create an event that brings students together. The students can network and also have fun at the same time!”
Ward also spoke on the different student organizations that would be represented at this event.
“We are going to be providing some mental health resources and advocate for that throughout the prom, especially because this event falls right before ‘dead week; and finals. The Counseling Center, Active Minds, Carrier Center, AOD and OASIS will all be involved in this party.”
Students are encouraged to wear their best prom attire or 1990s-inspired formal. There will be superlatives throughout the night, which Carrier Center representative Caelan Peterson spoke on.
“There will be four categories of prizes as of right now. One will be Best Prom Attire, one will be Best 90’s Attire, one is a random giveaway and also one for Best Promposal.”
If a student participates in asking another student to prom with a “promposal”, please post them on social media and tag @PartyBucs so they can see each one of them!
Students are also asked to RSVP to the event by either using the Google Doc in the @PartyBucs Instagram bio or by scanning the QR code on fliers that can be found posted across campus. This is so the event planners can know how many people to expect for safety reasons and food amounts.
If you would like to see the event as it unfolds in the coming weeks before prom, please follow @PartyBucs on Instagram.
