Bucky’s Food Pantry aids the campus community not only with food necessities but also helps to keep the community warm with a coat and blanket drive.

The coat and blanket drive is on its 10th anniversary and relies on donations of cold weather necessities, mainly coats and blankets.

The Bucky’s Food Pantry concept started in 2011. Fast forward to present day, many students have been helped from the organization. From food boxes to warm clothes, the pantry provides necessities for campus community who is in need.

Charles Patton, chair of Bucky’s Food Pantry, has been active in the pantry since the planning era of the fall of 2011. He is currently the executive aide for the Department of Environmental Health.

“Bucky’s Food Pantry’s 10th annual winter coat and blanket drive is underway to help those in need within the ETSU community,” Patton said.

No coats or blankets you are willing to part with? No problem; Patton discussed additional items the pantry will accept for the coat and blanket drive, preferably gently used or brand new.

“In addition to the new or clean and gently used winter coats and new blankets, the pantry also accepts new winter hats, gloves and scarves,” Patton said.

There are numerous places to donate for the coat and blanket drive.

“Donations of these items may be made at several locations through Nov. 11,” Patton said.

If a person is in need of winter necessities, there will be limited items that can be picked up.

“The Buccaneer Ridge location of Bucky’s Food Pantry will have limited coat availability for pickup beginning Wednesday, Oct. 12,” said Patton.

After donations are received, the coat giveaway will start Nov. 14-18.

All of the Bucky’s Food Pantry locations will be accepting donations. There will be also numerous locations throughout campus accepting donations.

Those locations are at the Buccaneer Ridge Apartments next to Central Receiving, the first floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center next to the passport office, the University School office, the third floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center at the counseling center, and at Mathes Hall.
