Trek Johnson City hosted its first ever Halloween trail ride on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Although the weather was a bit colder than expected, many bikers still braved the low temperatures and dressed up in their costumes for the festive event.
The event was a group ride that took place at the Unaka Bike Park in Erwin, Tennessee, where participants followed a course on the trails within the park. Afterwards the bikers made s’mores around the fire pit to stay warm and end the night with a sweet treat.
“Although it was a small turnout, the trails were really fun and our bikers found a lot of session lines on the new trail system,” said Samantha Miranda, marketing and events coordinator for Trek Johnson City.
If you missed the Halloween ride but are still interested in participating in future events, Trek Johnson City will host more rides and events throughout the rest of the year.
“We have a Bike and Beans ride scheduled for December 3. We ride from the Tweetsie Trail to the Coffee Company in downtown Elizabethton, Tennessee, where bikers can chat and grab a cup of coffee,” Miranda stated.
For those who may not have access to a bike, Trek Johnson City also offers the option to rent bikes for free for their group ride events at their store located at 110 West Market Street in Johnson City.
Although trail rides and biking may be intimidating for some, Trek Johnson City encourages everyone to give it a try if they are interested.
“Our biggest ride of the year is the Taco Trek, which is easy and family friendly for riders of every background. It runs from April until October and is the first Tuesday of every month. It is a great way to see the store and meet the people who work here and other members of the Trek community. You also get a free beer or ice cream at the end of the ride,” Miranda said.
