On Feb. 7, Buctainment hosted comedian Caleb Elliott in Culp Cave.

During the first half of the show, Elliott was getting to know the students in the audience. He wanted them to feel comfortable so he could feel comfortable. Elliot engaged with the audience throughout his whole performance, including asking about ETSU and what the students are like here.

Once Elliot started telling some jokes, he paused to see if it would be okay if he shared a few new jokes he has been working on. He saw which ones had the better reactions from the students.

“My favorite part about Elliott’s comedy would be how he is focused on our generations humor and he knows what we will find funny,” said Dyaonna Moore, a senior here at ETSU.

“This is my first time ever seeing a comedian before, so I don’t know much, but I really enjoyed attending the comedy show and being able to laugh and joke around with my friends, I would love for Buctainment to bring more comedians back in the future,” explained, Gracie Mathis a sophomore at ETSU.

Throughout the whole second half of Elliot’s performance he was popping around the audience and cracking jokes towards students at every table.

“Crowd work in stand up comedy is a very unique moment to have with every audience because it is always different from other places I have performed,” said Elliott.

After the performance Elliot shared a bit with why he began being a stand up comedian.

“It is who I am. I was a natural when starting and I feel like it is truly the one thing I love,” Elliott shared. “I feel like comedy found me and I’m so happy it is going well.”

Around 54 students showed up and attended a comedy show.

“I would definitely love to come back to ETSU one day in the future and be able to do comedy again for these students,” Elliott concluded.
