ETSU played Marist College inside of Thomas Stadium on March 4 and lost 11-3.
With this loss, the series is now all tied up after ETSU won the first game 7-4. ETSU falls to a 5-5 overall record, while Marist picks up their first win of the season.
Austin Emener (Macon, Ga.) got the nod for the Bucs on the mound. After pitching for 4.1 innings, he struck out six and gave up two earned runs.
Marist got into the run column first as Ethan Conrad scored on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Coming into the fourth inning, Nicholas But had a two-out homer to left center, giving the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead.
ETSU’s Marshall Awtry (Wilmington, Del.) got things going for the scoreless Bucs in the bottom half of the sixth inning with a one-run homer to left center, making it a 2-1 game.
The Bucs were on the field longer than they would have liked in the seventh inning. Marist pushed a one run lead into a 6-1 lead with the help of a sacrifice fly by Nathan Linco and a three-run homer by Brian Hart.
Marist picked up right where they left off coming into the eighth inning. A three-run homer extended their lead to 9-1. Awtry led things off in the bottom of the eighth with a solo shot to center field, going 2-3 with a pair of RBIs and two home runs.
In the ninth, Marist tacked on two more runs, giving them 11 runs and finishing the day with 11 hits as a team. Cameron Sisneros (Littleton, Colo.) single-scored a run for the Bucs. ETSU finished the day with 10 total hits, but had a hard time getting runners across home plate in an 11-3 final score.
Emener (0-1) took the loss for the Bucs while Brian Yetter (1-2) was rewarded the win. Tommy Barth (Brecksville, Ohio) went 2-4 on the day while Jared Paladino (Levittown, N.Y.) and Nick Iannantone (Plainfield, Ill.) each added a hit.
