These last few years during COVID-19 have been a difficult time for everyone; we’ve all had special events that were canceled from special birthdays to graduation and prom.

For a lot of students now on campus, we didn’t get a prom.

SAGA and the Patricia Robertson Pride Center heard about this and decided to take things into their own hands and throw a prom for us. Hosted in the D.P. Culp Center Ballroom on March 4, it was characterized by a plethora of balloons and dancing.

Upon entrance, the attendees walked through an aisle of balloons wrapped in LEDs and made stops at the photo stations. Bethanie Dye, coordinator for the Dr. Patricia Robertson Pride Center, brought along a polaroid for people to take print pictures, which was a fun touch and seemed to be very popular.

After that was a nice selection of food catered by Sodexo, including fruits, cheese and tiny sandwiches.

In the center was one of the best parts of the evening for many– the dance floor. While many started the night shy, once people started taking to the dance floor, it was over from there and was full the rest of the event.

Throughout the night, the DJ hosted games from a test of how fast people could grab cups to musical chairs and the winners and runner-ups for both games got to claim a Squishmallow as a prize.

The night ended with a fashion show and a couple of last-minute photos.

As an attendee, it was definitely a night to remember and hopefully continues to be an event held for years to come.
