Lori Metcalf worked for the East Tennessean from 1984-1986. During her time with the publication, she worked as a sports editor, features editor, news editor and managing editor.

She graduated in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in Spanish.

Metcalf currently works as the human resources administrator for Juddmonte based out of Lexington, Kentucky. Juddmonte is one of the world’s leading Thoroughbred breeders. She works with all phases of human resources and employee payroll.

“[Juddmonte] is a great company, is challenging and [provides] diverse tasks,” said Metcalf.

As Metcalf reflects on her time with the publication, she notes that her role as editor has been beneficial to her work at Juddmonte.

“I write a bilingual newsletter every week, and my writer/editor training serves me well, even in page design which was always my favorite,” said Metcalf. “Good writing and editing is important no matter what business you’re in.”
