As the school year comes to an end, the time to celebrate has never been more appropriate. The same applies to organizations such as the Mary V. Multicultural Center and the Black Affairs Association as they host their Unity Fest event celebrating community of all students at East Tennessee State University.

On April 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Mary V. Jordan Multicultural Center and Black Affairs Association hosted their annual event Unity Fest at the University Commons to promote their message of diversity and multicultural awareness. The event consisted of interactive games, novelties, giveaways and live music by local vocal group M’Soul. Later in the day, M’Soul had a Unity Jam where they held a stand-alone concert from 6 to 9 p.m.

Organizations also had a chance to set up booths and inform students about different programs to excel in their career and make connections. As a free-roam event, attendees were free to walk around and stop at booths as well as participate in games. Live music was also presented with a live band concert-style for anyone to stop by and enjoy the music.

Ever since it’s opening in 2016, the Multicultural Center has built a back bone of support for multicultural students on campus, working with all kinds of backgrounds. Providing different programs, seminars and meetings, they have made chances of involvement possible and in reach of anyone interested.

Building relationships and community, the Unity Fest created a common space for attendees to have fun and learn about new opportunities to cater to their future.
