ETSU welcomed Jason Derulo and Rainbow Kitten Surprise to campus as part of the annual SGA spring concert.

The annual ETSU Student Government Association spring concert was held Saturday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in the Ballad Health Athletic Center (also known as the Mini-Dome) on campus. Students were able to attend for free with a ticket.

The concert featured Andi, Jason Derulo and Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

Students lined up early for the opening of doors at 5:45 p.m. to get their place on the floor or their seats on the East and West sides of the Mini-Dome. The show started at 7 p.m. and opened with musical guest Andi.

Shortly after the ending of Andi’s set, Derulo’s DJ took the stage to warm up the crowd for his appearance. Many students chanted “Jason” as the time grew closer. The crowd cheered as Derulo and his backup dancers took the stage.

“My favorite part of tonight was the energy, the crowd was obviously very pumped,” said Emily Tapp, and ETSU student. “Jason was my favorite artist of the night, I was excited to see him onstage.”

While the crowd went wild for the first main act, the concert was not over for most students. The audience waited around 45 minutes for the second main act, Rainbow Kitten Surprise. The band took the stage around 10:30 p.m.

Whether concertgoers came for Jason Derulo or Rainbow Kitten Surprise, they were able to enjoy live music all night. Most were there just to have a fun evening ahead of finals and dead week.

“I had a blast at the SGA concert featuring Andi, Jason Derulo and Rainbow Kitten Surprise,” said Trent White, incoming SGA president. “All of the artists were incredible, and it was great seeing such a diverse genre of music in one night. The ETSU community came out in droves, and this wouldn’t have been possible without all the help from staff and volunteers.”

The concert ended close to midnight and students and concertgoers left the Mini-Dome. Students will be able to vote in the coming months for their choice of the next artists to perform for the SGA fall concert.
