Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. students were invited to Sam Wilson Hall for coffee, croissants and bagels and were able to talk to career services about their career goals and ideas. ETSU makes preparing students for the future a priority and wants to connect them with resources for success.

Director of Career Services, Melinda LaPrade, said this is just the first of several events. The event will be held in each departmental building throughout the year. It allows students to easily ask questions, get information and grab a free snack or drink.

“Career readiness is a developmental process.  Students need to begin early—even as early as freshman year—to learn about career options, key skills, and ways to gain experience leading up to an internship or a full-time job at graduation,” LaPrade said.

Transitioning from school to career can be challenging and difficult for students, this is why events and opportunities such as this are important. Connecting students to career resources is something ETSU strives for.

“We hosted about 55 to 60 CBAT students. All of the food and free gifts were gone,” LaPrade said.

The department was able to see a large amount of students come and plan for their future with plenty of help and information. Students who missed this event can plan on attending the next one to experience the same opportunities.

LaPrade said the main goal of the event is “to meet CBAT students where they are in their career journeys and offer quick advice about a variety of career readiness topics, from internships to resume writing to job search.”

Students with any questions about career steps can reach out to Career Services anytime. CBAT students can find more information by emailing CBATCareers@etsu.edu; other students can email CAREERS@etsu.edu
