UNC Asheville traveled to Johnson City to take on ETSU at Summers-Taylor Stadium Tuesday night. The 3-4-1 Bucs came into the game as the underdog vs. UNC Asheville, who has ranked 5-2-1 so far into the 2023 campaign.

Both teams started the night having not lost a game since Sept. 9. ETSU’s last contest ended in a 2-1 victory against Presbyterian, and UNC Asheville was coming off a 2-0 win versus VMI.

ETSU goalkeeper Marc Kouadio (Montreal, Canada) was perfect in the first half, allowing zero goals and blocking all three shots attempted. The University of Dayton transfer also stopped two of four shots on goal in the second half, giving UNC Asheville the 2-0 lead.

Penalties were a problem for the Bucs, being called offsides nine times in the contest. UNC Asheville also out-shot the Bucs 13-8.

UNC Asheville now boasts back-to-back shutout wins, something they haven’t accomplished since 2016.

ETSU will try to shake this loss off and travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on the Cavaliers, who are currently 4-2-1 on the season. This game is set for Sept. 26.
