Construction on campus has begun and is in the process of fulfilling the master plan. The Campus Center and Dunkin’ are in the works and getting here quicker than you think.

Dunkin’ is set to hit campus and students are eager. What took the place of Einstein Bros. Bagels in the Sherrod Library, will now be open the week of Feb. 12, 2024. Dunkin’ has faced some delays and challenges since construction has taken place. Dunkin’ was supposed to be finished by November or December of this year, leaving time to train employees to be open and ready by the spring semester. Delays, such as waiting for the fire marshal’s approval, getting the contract signed and deciding whether construction should continue during dead week, have set back the process. However, a minor setback for a big comeback is what’s in store for Dunkin’.

“It was a student-driven choice to not have any disturbance and quiet in the library for two weeks, which meant we would open later next semester,” said Chief Operating Officer, Jeremy Ross.

As for the Campus Center building, students have found it hard to navigate and travel through the construction site. There have been plans made to make the area more accessible and easy for students. Ross says that there have been sidewalks in place that will help students move around the construction site, along with fencing to make it look nicer to students and visitors on campus. Adding these things will take longer but since construction is ahead of schedule, the estimated time should not be affected.

On Dec. 14, there will be a demolition party to help remember what the Campus Center has served for many former students on campus. It will be a time to tear down, giveaways, good times and laughs so come out and support.
