In his inaugural season as the new head coach of the Buccaneer’s football program, Tre Lamb has been nothing short of impressive so far. Since being hired in late November, Lamb has built one of the strongest recruiting classes in the Southern Conference picking up 33 new faces, 19 on offense and 14 on defense (as of Jan. 4).

Of the new recruiting class, 20 of the 33 players transferred to ETSU with  Lamb from Gardner-Webb.

With the changes, Lamb’s inaugural class has seen the addition of a trio of new quarterbacks, Cole Doyle, Jaylen King, and Reece Fountain. Of the three, Cole Doyle brings in the most experience as a transfer from St. Francis of Pennsylvania where he was a Walter Payton Award finalist, throwing 2,977 yards and 34 touchdowns in 17 games for the Red Flash.

Another player in this new transfer class to keep an eye on in the 2024 season is linebacker Ty Anderson from Gardner-Webb.

In his tenure at Gardner-Webb Anderson helped prevail his team to back-to-back conference championships totaling over 90 tackles, 11.5 for loss, two sacks, and one interception along with two fumble recoveries. To add on to his long list of accolades, he won the 2022 Big South Defensive Freshman of the Year.

At his December press conference, Lamb said, “There’s a good balance of offensive and defensive players that we expect to come in and make an immediate impact.”

The addition of the new faces to the Buccaneer family is something to keep an eye on when spring practices start later this semester and the 2024 Bucs football season approaches.
