This week the East Tennessee State University women’s basketball team met with the Wofford Terriers at Brooks Gym. ETSU would go on to lose their battle with Wofford, 77-65.

Aside from the loss, the Buccaneers had a solid performance. Nevaeh Brown (Charlotte, N.C.) led the Bucs in points, putting up 17 points while shooting an impressive 80% from the three-point line.

Meghan Downing (New Madison, Ohio) had a nice night, nearly securing a double-double. Downing went on to post 10 points, eight boards, and she denied Wofford’s offense with two blocks.

Journee McDaniel (New Bern, N.C.) had a great game coming off of the bench. McDaniel finished the game with 11 points and three rebounds, in just 14 minutes of play.

Overall, the Bucs shot 40% from the field, 39% from beyond the arc, and 50% from the charity stripe.

Rachel Rose of the Wofford Terriers put the team on her back with a strong performance. Rose went on to construct a double-double, scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. To add to her performance, Rose found a way to get the rock around to her teammates resulting in five assists and three steals.

Evangelia Paulk was runner up in points for the Terriers scoring 13 points, and nine rebounds. Wofford as a team finished the game shooting 37% from the field, 42% from the three-point line, and over 85% from the free-throw line.

Overall, both ETSU and Wofford have been having excellent seasons this year. ETSU now sits at 15-7 on the year, and Wofford sits at 13-8. The Buccaneers are looking to bounce back in their next upcoming game versus Mercer. Tip off is scheduled for Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
