The Buccaneers were excited to participate in this years General Hackler Championship. The Bucs are no stranger to the General Hackler Championship, as they have won three times (2006, 2010, 2023), the only other three-time champion team competing was North Florida (2012, 2015, 2019).

There was a lot of great competition out on the course this time around, giving the Bucs a hard fight throughout the entire championship. The three-day event took place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and lasted from March 18-20 and consisted of 18 holes of play each day.

The Bucs did not achieve the results that they sought out unfortunately placing 4th place tying with Chattanooga in the top 10. The top-three consisted of Furman, Coastal Carolina and Louisville, with Louisville taking first place, Coastal Carolina following, and Furman placing third.

Moving forward the Bucs will only use tying for fourth place as fuel and motivation as they enter familiar territory and defend their title at The Hooties at Bulls Bay, another three-day tournament lasting from March 24-26. The Bucs have won the last two tournaments in Charleston, South Carolina.

As far as the championship match goes the final score for East Tennessee State goes as following: Ege 215 (-1), Dodd-Berry 218 (+2), Kleen 219 (+3), Chartier 221 (+5), and finally Forrester 223 (+7). Overall, the Buccaneers scored 876 (+3) as a team tying for fourth place.

This was a great overall tournament. A great performance and effort by our Buccaneers, and now they’re hungry and ready to fight and defend their title at The Hooties at Bulls Bay.
