Last week the Bucs traveled all the way to Birmingham, Alabama, to face the Samford Bulldogs. The Bucs went on to beat the Bulldogs 13-9 in a thrilling matchup.

During their time in Birmingham, the Buccaneers played a series of three games against Samford. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers lost their first two matchups 6-9, but thankfully they got their revenge in game three.

The Bucs were electric during their first inning against the Bulldogs. ETSU secured 10 runs during the first inning, while Samford was held to zero.

The game looked to be a blowout. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers used too much juice during the first inning causing the team to slow down significantly. ETSU did not score another run until the sixth inning. Disappointingly, this left room for the Bulldogs to chip away at ETSU’s lead. In the time that the Bucs did not score any runs the Bulldogs managed to rack up nine runs.

They were right on the tails of the Bucs, but the Bucs stood tall and took care of business. ETSU’s defense locked down the Bulldogs, not allowing a single run for the rest of the game. The matchup was very intense, and you can tell the Bucs were hungry to win it.

Cameron Sineros and Owen Kovacs were standout stars for the Bucs during this matchup and helped lead ETSU to a sweet victory. Sisneros, had two home runs, and a whopping seven runs batted in. Kovacs was phenomenal pitching a career high 5.2 innings, and he only allowed a single run.

Overall this was a great matchup for the Bucs, and they were super excited to secure the final game in the series. With their win on Sunday, the Buccaneers have improved their overall record to 21-12 and their SoCon record to 6-6. Additionally, this victory represents Samford’s first defeat in conference play this season, adjusting their league record to 8-1.
