Young Professionals on Campus (YPOC) is set to host the Flourish Spring Gala, celebrating the organization’s first year coming to a close.
The gala will take place on Tuesday, April 22, from 8 to 10 p.m. at Soluna Sage in downtown Johnson City. Formal attire is recommended.
YPOC is a student organization that focuses on three pillars: service, leadership and connection. “We focus on developing students in those three ways to make them more well-rounded students and citizens,” said Em Hatcher, director.
Young Professionals of Johnson City is the parent organization of YPOC, which focuses on retaining young talent in Johnson City. “While we are all Buccaneers, we are also citizens of Johnson City,” said Hatcher. “Our goal is to get students out into the community as much as possible to interact with people who might be their future employer.”
The Flourish Gala is sponsored by the BUC Fund, with florals provided by Aunt Willie’s Wild Flowers. There will be a DJ, spring-themed snacks and drinks and a celebration of seniors with graduation cords.
In their first year, YPOC has hosted over 20 events, gained more than 80 new members and won a Summit Award for their Taste of JC event. Membership is gained through joining the GroupMe and attending a lead, serve and connect event in one calendar year.
The gala is open to everyone, both students and community members. There are around 75 tickets remaining.
“YPOC is so excited to be hosting our Flourish Spring Gala! We would love to have everyone come out and celebrate with us. We can’t wait to see you there,” said Chloe Newton, marketing chair.
