Running back Jacob Saylors has signed with the Detroit Lions, the team announced on July 29th as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Saylors shined during his college career at East Tennessee State University, recording an impressive 3,851 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns at the end of his five seasons here.
After going undrafted at the 2023 NFL draft, Saylors spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals during offseason training camp, and later played two seasons in the UFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Saylors offers Detroit another option behind the already established running backs like Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. His addition allows for potential flexibility on defense, and adds more depth to their roster.
The Lions have emphasized adding competition at every position heading into the season, and Saylors’ signing reflects that approach. In building upon his progress and adjusting quickly to the Lion’s organization, Saylors could find himself becoming a vital piece of the Lion’s offense this season.
